Acrylic on canvas, 2005
24"x30"
I love this piece... the process to make it was dumbfoundingly frustrating, with so many accidents leading me to explode with paint all over the canvas and cover it all up with one color and start over and then somehow this came out. I want to do it again and make it into a series... but hell if I know how I'm going to do that... we'll see... I've got a canvas waiting,
this technique looks really well done! i know that feeling well: when you paint somethign that takes a really long time and utilizes so many different techniques, and then you finish and you want to do it again, but you can't remember how, or you simply cannot duplicate it. Great colors, adn the background intrigues me, along with the figure. i hope you can figure out how to do this again so you create more stuffs like this
I'm rather fond of this piece myself. I couldn't decide which piece in your gallery was my favorite--they are all by far amazing to browse through. Your sense of surrealism and your ability to paint, with the quality of colors that you select, is amazing. This, though, is my favorite piece of yours. I think it's the expression that really draws me in. Nonetheless, great work.

Thanks. I stuggle a lot with paint, so I go through a lot of phases and styles and genres in an attempt to push back to an expressive emotional/surrealism. ~obsessiveradiohead is an example of some of the work I try to emulate in order to better understand that I'm trying to accomplish for myself, along with a number of more famous artists. This piece though is like a self portrait, and it fell together much better than I could have expected, which makes me very proud of it, and it's probably my own favorite piece (or at least the only one that I've never been upset with). But again, thank you for your comment and fav.
Nice painting. It gripped me. You mentioned that it was " like a self portrait" I kind of think all the paintings we do are indeed self portraits in one way or another.
